Jekyll & Hyde: Character vs. Character

Main Compelling Questions found in this unit:

  • What does it mean to hold two or more emotions or identities simultaneously? How can more than one idea, feeling or identity exist together and still be true? Do two opposing ideas or feelings need to cause conflict?

  • How does the diversity of your emotions or identities shape your personality?


Age Range: Grades 6-8


Objectives

  • Students will recognize and demonstrate contrasting emotions or qualities.

  • Students will support interpretations of creative movement, text, visual art and poetry by citing evidence.

  • Students will analyze metaphors in poetry related to the theme of duality and create metaphors for self-expression. 

  • Students will construct responses to compelling questions supported by reasoning and evidence individually and in groups.
