For nearly 60 years, Ballet Des Moines has been bringing magical performances to the Des Moines community and people all across Iowa. For decades, these performances have provided local youth the opportunity to appear on stage alongside professional dancers from around the country, creating life-long memories and inspiring students to follow their dreams.

More recently, Ballet Des Moines has also performed dedicated student matinees, offering thousands of local, rural, and underserved students the opportunity to attend a free performance, tailored to their age group and featuring educational programming that explores how different cultures celebrate and tell stories through dance and performance.

In 2023, Ballet Des Moines took this program further, with the launch of a dedicated Scholarship Fund. The vision of this program is to remove all barriers to entry for youth participation in inspiring performance opportunities. To accomplish this, Ballet Des Moines Artistic Leadership visit underrepresented communities and hold workshops, allowing students to meet us where they are and experience not just an opportunity to dance with professionals but a sense of authentic belonging regardless of training or background.
