BDM NUTCRACKER SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION OVERVIEW

Ballet Des Moines Nutcracker offers youth dancers an opportunity to learn from BDM Artistic Staff and perform in the same production as BDM professional dancers. The goal of this program builds community, cultivates skill and talent, and culminates in at least one final professionally staged performance, dancing alongside Ballet Des Moines’ professional company. A longstanding tradition and vital to our commitment to serving our community, this program is offered to youth ages 5 and up and the fee is $200.

In alignment with our mission, we are committed to accessibility and partnership. Nutcracker participation scholarships are offered on a need basis to ensure students who otherwise would not be able to attend are able to participate. Every student who has been cast in the Nutcracker has already proven that they deserve to be here, and these scholarships provide access. 

Scholarships are reviewed after a student has auditioned and been cast. If a family has more than one child participating, a separate application will need to be submitted. All scholarship requests and awards are kept strictly confidential. While we may disclose the total dollar amount of scholarships awarded, we will never share individuals who receive scholarships. Scholarship awards range from 10% up to 100% of participation fees. Limited scholarships are available and applications do not guarantee a scholarship award.

Please note: Scholarship applications are due by August 30. Burlington scholarship applicants should list “Burlington” as their role.
