Summer is officially here, and although this year doesn't look quite like any other summer we've experienced, we can hold onto fleeting moments of familiarity: sticky afternoons, friendly waves from neighbors, dripping popsicles, and maybe some socially-distanced fireworks.

At Ballet Des Moines, summers mean meeting new dancers, getting the studios ready for company class, and gearing up for an exciting season.

We are looking forward to sharing beautiful new ballets and beloved productions with you in the coming months, but due to safety concerns for artists and patrons, fall performances at the Des Moines Civic Center are currently being rescheduled for 2021, and we are announcing the cancelation of our production of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.

We know you may have questions, so we have prepared some FAQ’s.  Please do not hesitate to reach out to info@balletdesmoines.org if you need any additional information.

As we look to the future, we are consulting with our local arts community as well as colleagues at ballet companies around the world.  But we would love to hear from you as well!  We hope that you will consider taking a few minutes to share your perspective and feedback, specifically surrounding our production of The Nutcracker in December 2020 and performance attendance in theaters.  Click here to take the short survey.

Thank you for being part of this wonderful, supportive community.  Together, we will turn this challenge into an opportunity to expand our reach, explore new ideas, and connect in new ways through the power of dance.
