Eugeniu Cilenco was born in Moldova. He received his education at the State Ballet Academy Munich. He danced as a guest at the Bavarian State Ballet in Munich and was a finalist of the Prix de Lausanne and the International Ballet Competition in Vienna. Since 2006 he is engaged as a dancer in Germany at the Theater Dortmund where he performed in Swan Lake, The Nutcracker, Manon, and Sleeping Beauty. As a soloist he danced in The Second Detail by William Forsythe, the Piano Piece by Douglas Lee, Immortal Beloved by Edwaard Liang, Cacti by Alexader Ekman, Sarabande by Benjamin Millepied, and Sleepers Chamber by Christian Spuck. Eugeniu joined Ballet Des Moines in the Spring of 2016 for Peter Pan and performed as Peter Pan. He is excited to return Ballet Des Moines for a third season.
Mary Cooper was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She attended St. Catherine School for elementary and middle school, and in 2014, she graduated from Cascia Hall Preparatory School as one of their co-valedictorians. She began taking ballet at the age of 3 at the Nancy Clarke School of Dance. At the age of 13, she began training at the Tulsa Ballet Center for Dance Education. She then danced for Tulsa Ballet's second company, Tulsa Ballet II before joining Ballet Des Moines in 2015. She has performed excerpts from ballets such as Sleeping Beauty, The Nutcracker, Le Corsaire, and Paquita and has worked with choreographers such as Ma Cong, Norbert De La Cruz III, and Brian Reeder. This is her fourth season with Ballet Des Moines.
Eleanor Danaan started training as a child at the School of Classical Ballet and Dance (SCBD) in West Des Moines and continued there until she graduated high school in 2012. At that same time, she also performed with Ballet Des Moines. In 2012, she was a trainee with the Cincinnati Ballet and the Orlando Ballet. She was a guest dancer for Ballet Des Moines in their production of Cinderella in 2014. This is Eleanor’s third season with Ballet Des Moines. Eleanor has performed in 3 + 1: A Triple Bill, Ovation: A Triple Bill, The Nutcracker, The Wizard of Oz, Peter Pan, Snow White and Cinderella.
Amelia Grubb, from McLean, Virginia, started dancing when she was 9 at the Kintz-Mejia Academy of Ballet. She continued her training on scholarships at the Kirov Academy of Ballet and the Akhmedova Ballet Academy. Amelia has competed in Youth America Grand Prix (YAGP) and placed in both classical and contemporary categories. After graduating high school, she spent one season performing with Columbia Classical Ballet as well as a spring season with English National Ballet. In 2014 Amelia joined the Richmond Ballet, spending one year in their Trainee program and another in the second company. She is excited to return for her third season with Ballet Des Moines.
BOBBIE LYNN KANDRAVI
Born in Houston, Texas, Bobbie Lynn trained at the American Academy of Dance where she was a member of Regional Dance America. In 2010, she moved to Tulsa, Okla. to train at the Tulsa Ballet Center for Dance Education. While there, she competed in the Young American Grand Prix (YAGP) regionals in Dallas, winning the gold medal in the women’s senior classical division. She was also asked to perform in the YAGP Young Medal Winners Gala at the Miami International Ballet Festival. Bobbie Lynn was able to perform with the Tulsa Ballet as Young Marie in The Nutcracker from 2010-2011 and in the corps de ballet in Ben Stevenson’s Dracula, The Four Temperaments and Tulsa Ballet II’s Raymonda Suite from 2012-2013. She joined Tulsa Ballet II in 2012, performing Natrea Blake’s Vivir al Dia, Ma Cong’s Matchpoint, Aurora’s Wedding, the Choreographer’s Circle, August Bournonville’s Napoli, Norber De La Cruz II’s Fourth Wall, and Ma Cong’s In Formation, as well as Tulsa Ballet ‘s main company productions of A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Paul Taylor’s Company B, The Nutcracker and Sleeping Beauty. This is Bobbie Lynn’s fourth season with Ballet Des Moines.
Ashton Plummer is originally from Lewiston, Maine. Ashton spent two years training at Nutmeg Conservatory for the Arts before graduating from the school. In 2013, he was a trainee with Ballet Austin, and the year previous was a trainee with the Cincinnati Ballet. Some of his favorite roles include: Hilarion in Giselle, a Goon in Balanchine’s Prodigal Son, and the Le Corsaire pas de deux. This is Ashton’s fifth season with Ballet Des Moines. He has performed in Ballet Des Moines’ 3 + 1: A Triple Bill, Ovation: A Triple Bill, The Nutcracker, The Wizard of Oz and Peter Pan and Snow White.
Devin Tokarski was born in Royal Oak, Mich. where he fell in love with dance at the age of 4, after watching his sister dance. He first started training at Juliana’s Academy of Dance at age 12. He studied contemporary, hip-hop, tap, jazz musical theater, and ballet with Juliana Pirpinelli and Michael Lemanski. At age 17, he focused on ballet and studied at the Academy of Russian Classical Ballet under Sergey Rayevskiy. The following year he traveled to Toronto, Ontario as a guest artist and performed in The Nutcracker with the Victoria Ballet Company. His repertoire includes: The Sleeping Beauty, The Nutcracker, and Giselle. This is Devin’s fifth year with Ballet Des Moines and he is very excited to be a part of such a wonderful community.
