Eleanor Danaan started training as a child at the School of Classical Ballet and Dance (SCBD) in West Des Moines and continued there until she graduated high school in 2012. At that same time, she also performed with Ballet Des Moines. In 2012, she was a trainee with the Cincinnati Ballet and the Orlando Ballet. She was a guest dancer for Ballet Des Moines in their production of Cinderella in 2014. This is Eleanor’s third season with Ballet Des Moines. Eleanor has performed in 3 + 1: A Triple Bill, Ovation: A Triple Bill, The Nutcracker, The Wizard of Oz, Peter Pan, Snow White and Cinderella.
Amelia Grubb, from McLean, Virginia, started dancing when she was 9 at the Kintz-Mejia Academy of Ballet. She continued her training on scholarships at the Kirov Academy of Ballet and the Akhmedova Ballet Academy. Amelia has competed in Youth America Grand Prix (YAGP) and placed in both classical and contemporary categories. After graduating high school, she spent one season performing with Columbia Classical Ballet as well as a spring season with English National Ballet. In 2014 Amelia joined the Richmond Ballet, spending one year in their Trainee program and another in the second company. She is excited to return for her third season with Ballet Des Moines.
BOBBIE LYNN KANDRAVI
Born in Houston, Texas, Bobbie Lynn trained at the American Academy of Dance where she was a member of Regional Dance America. In 2010, she moved to Tulsa, Okla. to train at the Tulsa Ballet Center for Dance Education. While there, she competed in the Young American Grand Prix (YAGP) regionals in Dallas, winning the gold medal in the women’s senior classical division. She was also asked to perform in the YAGP Young Medal Winners Gala at the Miami International Ballet Festival. Bobbie Lynn was able to perform with the Tulsa Ballet as Young Marie in The Nutcracker from 2010-2011 and in the corps de ballet in Ben Stevenson’s Dracula, The Four Temperaments and Tulsa Ballet II’s Raymonda Suite from 2012-2013. She joined Tulsa Ballet II in 2012, performing Natrea Blake’s Vivir al Dia, Ma Cong’s Matchpoint, Aurora’s Wedding, the Choreographer’s Circle, August Bournonville’s Napoli, Norber De La Cruz II’s Fourth Wall, and Ma Cong’s In Formation, as well as Tulsa Ballet ‘s main company productions of A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Paul Taylor’s Company B, The Nutcracker and Sleeping Beauty. This is Bobbie Lynn’s fourth season with Ballet Des Moines.
Devin Tokarski was born in Royal Oak, Mich. where he fell in love with dance at the age of 4, after watching his sister dance. He first started training at Juliana’s Academy of Dance at age 12. He studied contemporary, hip-hop, tap, jazz musical theater, and ballet with Juliana Pirpinelli and Michael Lemanski. At age 17, he focused on ballet and studied at the Academy of Russian Classical Ballet under Sergey Rayevskiy. The following year he traveled to Toronto, Ontario as a guest artist and performed in The Nutcracker with the Victoria Ballet Company. His repertoire includes: The Sleeping Beauty, The Nutcracker, and Giselle. This is Devin’s fifth year with Ballet Des Moines and he is very excited to be a part of such a wonderful community.
Hunter was born in Can Tho, Vietnam. He was adopted at the age of three and grew up in Orlando, FL. As a child, he participated in gymnastics, ballet and many other forms of dance. He trained with Central Florida Ballet School until the age of 15, when he left to train with the prestigious Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre School for 3 years. Upon completion of his training, he danced with both Tulsa Ballet and The Sacramento Ballet, where in addition to performing, he taught at the academy full time. He has performed in many ballets such as The Nutcracker, Don Quixote and Peter Pan. This is Hunter's second year with Ballet Des Moines.
Erin Arndorfer began her training in her hometown of Elk Grove Village, Illinois, before enrolling in the Chicago Academy for the Arts. While at the academy, she performed the Grand Pas Classique pas de deux at the Youth American Grand Prix Finals in New York City. She also performed the principal role in the academy’s end-of-the-year show: Paquita. From 2014 to 2016, Erin continued her training at the Houston Ballet Academy, where she performed roles such as Waltz and Russian Girl in the first movement of George Balanchine’s Serenade, Paquita pas de trois variation, and corps de ballet in Coppélia, Nutcracker, and Stanton Welch’s The Ladies. During this time, Erin also attended summer programs at the Houston Ballet, School of the American Ballet, and Pacific Northwest Ballet. Upon graduation from Houston Ballet, Erin joined the Trainee Program at the Dutch National Ballet in Amsterdam. While there, she performed the principal variation from Pierre Lacotte’s Pharaoh’s Daughter and works by Christopher Wheeldon and Nils Christe. Erin joined the Colorado Ballet Studio Company in 2017, where she performed in the corps de ballet of Nutcracker, Romeo and Juliet, Sleeping Beauty, Carmina Burana, and Serenade. In 2018, Erin performed the title role of Cinderella as a guest artist for Baton Rouge Ballet Theatre. Erin is excited to begin her first season with Ballet Des Moines.
Logan Hillman, hailing from northern Virginia, began ballet education at age ten from the Russel School and Virginia Ballet Company and School. At 16, he attended the Kirov Academy of Ballet in Washington DC, and concluded his training under Jacqueline Akhmedova at her school in Maryland. He worked professionally for the Columbia Classical Ballet, Richmond Ballet and Nashville Ballet. Favorite works include dancing in Jiří Kylián's Sech Tanze, Christopher Bruce's Sgt. Early's Dream, and Val Caniparoli's Swipe and The Lottery.
