Ballet Des Moines Guild

What is a guild?
It’s a social group of volunteers who meet and plan events designed to have fun and raise money and awareness for the good of the organization.

Why does Ballet Des Moines need a guild?
Ballet Des Moines is an active, growing organization that has a wealth of talent in its volunteers. The events (Nutcracker teas, gala, boutique, etc.) require a fun, energetic group to plan and organize them. Also, there’s a huge opportunity for the guild to plan other social events or parties to raise money for Ballet Des Moines. Basically, we’re trying to structure and enhance our existing group of dedicated volunteers.

Why are there guild dues?
The dues represent a small fee for membership in the guild. It provides “seed money” for the guild to begin planning and organizing events and offsets administrative expenses for mailings, printing, etc.

What are the benefits of being a Ballet Des Moines guild member?
The guild is first and foremost a social group—it’s FUN! Also, guild members receive invitations to guild events, are informed about Ballet Des Moines happenings, receive the Ballet Des Moines guild newsletter and get to know other people who are interested in promoting the arts in the community—more people like you!           

Don’t we already have a group who does this stuff?
Ballet Des Moines has an active, working board of directors whose focus has been getting Ballet Des Moines up and running with a sound financial foundation. With a guild in place to oversee event planning, the board can remain focused on corporate underwriting and sponsorships, grant writing, and major gift acquisitions—all aimed at achieving Ballet Des Moines’ mission of bringing a full-time professional ballet company back to Des Moines.
